Sunan Abi Dawud 4928 (Book 43, Hadith 156) #25219
Prohibiting Killing of People Who Pray

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) prohibited the killing of people who pray, even if they imitate the look of women.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: Am effeminate man (mukhannath) who had dyed his hands and feet with henna was brought to the Prophet . He asked: What is the matter with this man? He was told: "Messenger of Allah! He imitates the look of women". So he issued an order regarding him and he was banished to an-Naqi'. The people said: Messenger of Allah! Should we not kill him? He said: I have been prohibited from killing people who pray. AbuUsamah said: Naqi' is a region near Medina and not a Baqi'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of killing people who pray. It was narrated by AbuHurayrah that a man who imitated the look of women was brought to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When asked what was wrong with him, he was told that he imitates women's looks. The Prophet ﷺ then issued an order to banish him to an-Naqi', and when asked if they should kill him instead, he said no as he has been prohibited from killing people who pray. This hadith teaches us that we should not take matters into our own hands and resort to violence or harm others even if we disagree with them or their actions; rather we should leave it up to Allah SWT and His laws for justice and punishment. We must also remember that everyone has a right to practice their religion without fear or persecution regardless of how different it may be from ours.
