Kindness and Compassion towards Mentally Ill

SUMMARY: A woman with a mental illness was treated kindly and compassionately by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Anas reported this tradition to the same effect through a different chain of narrators. This version adds: A woman who had something (feebleness) in her mind.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، كَانَ فِي عَقْلِهَا شَىْءٌ بِمَعْنَاهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the kindness and compassion that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed to a woman who had something wrong with her mind. He did not judge her or treat her differently because of it. Instead, he showed her mercy and kindness. This teaches us that we should always be kind to those who are different from us or have difficulties in life. We should never judge them or make them feel bad for their situation but instead show them love and understanding.
