Controlling Anger

SUMMARY: When one is angry, they should sit down and if the anger does not subside, they should lie down.

Narrated AbuDharr: The Messenger of Allah said to us: When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take time to cool off before responding in an angry way; Take some time for yourself when feeling overwhelmed with emotions; Make better decisions in difficult situations

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us how to control our anger. He said that when we are feeling angry while standing up, we should sit down and take a few deep breaths. If the anger still doesn't go away after sitting for a few moments, then we should lie down on our side or back until it passes. This teaches us that it is important to take time to cool off before responding in an angry way. It also shows us that it is okay to take some time for ourselves when we are feeling overwhelmed with emotions like anger or sadness. Taking care of ourselves in this way can help us stay calm and make better decisions in difficult situations.
