Sahih al-Bukhari 2617 (Book 51, Hadith 49) #2503
Forgiveness in the Face of Poison

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was offered a poisoned cooked sheep, but he chose to forgive the Jewess who had given it to him instead of punishing her.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" He said, "No". I continued to see the effect of the poison on the palate of the mouth of Allah's Messenger .

QUICK LESSONS:
Show mercy and forgiveness towards others even if they have wronged you in some way

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the mercy and forgiveness that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed when he was offered a poisoned cooked sheep. Despite being aware of the poison, he chose not to punish the Jewess who had given it to him. Instead, he showed mercy and forgave her for her actions. This teaches us that we should always be forgiving and merciful towards others even if they have wronged us in some way. We should also strive to emulate this example set by our beloved Prophet ﷺ and show compassion towards those around us regardless of their faith or background.
