Sunan Abi Dawud 4714 (Book 42, Hadith 119) #25005
Born in Islam

SUMMARY: Every child is born on Islam, but their parents can make them follow other religions.

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying : Every child is born on Islam, but his parents make him a Jew and a Christian, just as a beast is born whole. Do you find some among them (born) maimed? The people asked : Messenger of Allah! What do you think about the one who died while he was young? He replied : Allah knows best what he was going to do.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect all religions and people regardless of physical abilities or beliefs; Raise your children with strong religious values; Be mindful of your parenting decisions; Do not judge others based on their religion or physical abilities; Have faith in Allah's plan for everyone's life.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that every child is born with an innate understanding of the Islamic faith. However, it is up to their parents to decide which religion they will follow. The Prophet Muhammad also asked if any children are born maimed or disabled and answered that only Allah knows what would have happened if they had lived longer. This hadith teaches us that we should not judge a person based on their religion or physical abilities, as only Allah knows what could have been. It also encourages us to be mindful of our parenting and ensure that our children are raised with strong religious values and beliefs.
