Sunan Abi Dawud 4587 (Book 41, Hadith 94) #24878
Qualified Physicians and Patient Safety

SUMMARY: A physician should not practice medicine if they are not qualified to do so, as it can harm the patient.

Narrated AbdulAziz ibn Umar ibn AbdulAziz: Some people of the deputation which came to my father reported the Messenger of Allah as saying: Any physician who practises medicine when he was not known as a practitioner before that and he harms (the patients) he will be held responsible. AbdulAziz said: Here physician does not refer to a man by qualification. it means opening a vein, incision and cauterisation.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek out medical help from those who are properly trained and certified in order to protect ourselves from any potential harm or danger .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the responsibility of a physician when practicing medicine. It is important for physicians to be qualified in order to practice medicine, as it can be harmful if done by someone who is not qualified. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned that any physician who practices without being known as a practitioner before that and harms the patients will be held responsible for their actions. This means that opening veins, incisions and cauterisation should only be done by those who are qualified in doing so. It is important for us to ensure that we seek out medical help from those who are properly trained and certified in order to protect ourselves from any potential harm or danger.
