Sunan Abi Dawud 4586 (Book 41, Hadith 93) #24877
The Responsibility of Practicing Medicine

SUMMARY: Practicing medicine without being a known practitioner is not allowed.

Narrated 'Amr b. Suh'aib: On his father's authority, said that his grandfather reported the Messenger of Allah said: Anyone who practises medicine when he is not known as a practitioner will be held responsible. Abu Dawud said: This has been transmitted by al-Walid alone. We do not know whether it is sound or not.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek out professional help when it comes to health and well-being . Take responsibility for one's actions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns against practicing medicine without being a known practitioner. It is important to be aware of the responsibility that comes with practicing medicine as it can have serious consequences if done incorrectly or by someone who is not qualified to do so. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and ensuring that they are qualified to practice any type of medical care before doing so. This hadith also serves as a reminder that we should always seek out professional help when it comes to our health and well-being, rather than trying to self-diagnose or treat ourselves with home remedies or over-the-counter medications without consulting an expert first.
