Sahih al-Bukhari 2596 (Book 51, Hadith 30) #2484
Refusing Gifts While in Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) refused to accept a gift of meat from As-Sa'b bin Jath-thama Al-Laithi while in a state of Ihram, and instead reassured him that his present was not being rejected.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: That he heard As-Sa'b bin Jath-thama Al-Laithi, who was one of the companions of the Prophet, saying that he gave the meat of an Onager to Allah's Messenger while he was at a place called Al-Abwa' or Waddan, and was in a state of Ihram. The Prophet did not accept it. When the Prophet saw the signs of sorrow on As-Sa'b's face because of not accepting his present, he said (to him), "We are not returning your present, but we are in the state of Ihram".

QUICK LESSONS:
Adhere to Rules & Regulations set by Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations of Ihram. It teaches us that even if someone offers us something as a gift, we should not accept it if it goes against the rules set by Allah. In this case, As-Sa'b bin Jath-thama Al-Laithi offered meat from an Onager to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was in a state of Ihram. However, due to the restrictions placed on those who are in this sacred state, he could not accept it and instead reassured As-Sa'b that his present was not being rejected. This hadith also teaches us about kindness and compassion towards others; even though he could not accept the gift due to religious reasons, he still showed understanding towards As-Sa'b's feelings by reassuring him that his present was appreciated.
