Blood-Wit Judgement by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave judgement on the amount of blood-wit for those who possessed camels, cattle, sheep, suits of clothing and wheat.

Narrated Ata' ibn AbuRabah: The Messenger of Allah gave judgment that blood-wit for those who possessed camels should be one hundred camels, and for those who possessed cattle two hundred cows, and for those who possessed sheep one thousand sheep, and for those who possessed suits of clothing two hundred suits, and for those who possessed wheat something which the narrator Muhammad (ibn Ishaq) did not remember.
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَضَى فِي الدِّيَةِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الإِبِلِ مِائَةً مِنَ الإِبِلِ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَقَرِ مِائَتَىْ بَقَرَةٍ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الشَّاءِ أَلْفَىْ شَاةٍ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْحُلَلِ مِائَتَىْ حُلَّةٍ وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْقَمْحِ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَحْفَظْهُ مُحَمَّدٌ

The hadith narrated by Ata' ibn AbuRabah tells us about the judgement given by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He gave judgement that blood-wit for those who possessed camels should be one hundred camels, and for those who possessed cattle two hundred cows, and for those who possessed sheep one thousand sheep, and for those who possessed suits of clothing two hundred suits, and for those who possessed wheat something which the narrator Muhammad did not remember. This hadith teaches us about justice in Islam. It is important to understand that justice is a fundamental part of Islamic teachings.
