Sahih al-Bukhari 248 (Book 5, Hadith 1) #248
Taking a Bath After Janaba

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) would take a bath after Janaba and perform ablution like that for the prayer. He would then wash his hair and body with water.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever the Prophet took a bath after Janaba he started by washing his hands and then performed ablution like that for the prayer. After that he would put his fingers in water and move the roots of his hair with them, and then pour three handfuls of water over his head and then pour water all over his body.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us how to take a bath after Janaba. This is known as Ghusl in Islamic terminology. First he would start by washing his hands and then perform ablution like that for the prayer. After that he would put his fingers in water and move the roots of his hair with them, which is known as Istinjaa'. Then he would pour three handfuls of water over his head and then pour water all over his body until every part of it was wet. This process is done to purify oneself from any impurities or sins one may have committed before taking this bath. It is important to note that this process should be done with utmost sincerity so one can truly benefit from its spiritual cleansing effects on their soul.
