Sunan Abi Dawud 4469 (Book 40, Hadith 119) #24760
Punishment for Unmarried Slave-Woman Who Commits Fornication

SUMMARY: This hadith discusses the punishment for a slave-woman who commits fornication and is not married.

Abu Hurairah and Zaid b. Khalid al-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allah was asked about a slave-woman who commits fornication, and she is not married: If she commits fornication, flog her: if she commits fornication again flog her; if only for a rope of hair (dafir). Ibn Shihab: I do not know whether he (the Prophet) said it is a third or a fourth time.

QUICK LESSONS:
Treat all people equally regardless of their social status; Discourage immoral acts by punishing them accordingly; Respect everyone's rights no matter what their background may be; Follow Islamic teachings on punishments for certain crimes such as adultery/fornication etc..

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the punishment that should be given to an unmarried slave woman who commits fornication. According to this hadith, she should be flogged if she commits the act once, and then flogged again if she repeats it. It is unclear whether a third or fourth time would require another flogging or not. The main idea of this hadith is that those who commit immoral acts must face consequences in order to discourage them from repeating their actions in the future. It also teaches us that we must treat all people equally regardless of their social status, as even a slave woman deserves justice when it comes to her actions being punished accordingly.
