Sunan Abi Dawud 4389 (Book 40, Hadith 39) #24680
Punishment and Release

SUMMARY: A person was punished for a crime and then released.

This tradition has also been transmitted by Muhammad bin Yahya bin Hibban through a different chain of narrators. This version adds : Marwan gave him some lashes and let him go.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالَ فَجَلَدَهُ مَرْوَانُ جَلَدَاتٍ وَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a person who committed a crime and was punished for it. The punishment was given by Marwan. After the punishment, the person was released from custody. This hadith teaches us that justice should be served in all cases but also that mercy should be shown to those who have been wronged or made mistakes. It is important to remember that everyone deserves a second chance and that we should not be too harsh on others when they make mistakes or do something wrong. We must also remember to forgive those who have wronged us as this will help us move forward in life with peace of mind and heart.
