The Prophet's Pillow

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) slept on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibre.

Narrated 'Aishah: The pillow of the Messenger of Allah on which he slept at night (according to the version on Ibn Mani') was of leather stuffed with palm fibre (according to the agreed version).
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رضى الله عنها قَالَتْ كَانَ وِسَادَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - قَالَ ابْنُ مَنِيعٍ - الَّتِي يَنَامُ عَلَيْهَا بِاللَّيْلِ - ثُمَّ اتَّفَقَا - مِنْ أَدَمٍ حَشْوُهَا لِيفٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by 'Aishah tells us about the sleeping habits of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is reported that he used to sleep on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibre. This hadith teaches us that even though the Prophet was a great leader and messenger of Allah, he still lived a simple life and did not indulge in luxuries. He was content with what he had and did not seek more than what was necessary for him. This is an important lesson for all of us to remember; we should be content with whatever Allah has given us and strive to live our lives in moderation without seeking too much material wealth or luxury items.
