Prohibitions in Islamic Dress and Worship

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade his followers from wearing certain garments, wearing gold rings, and reading the Quran while bowing.

Narrated 'Ali bin Abi Talib: The Messenger of Allah forbade us to wear a Qassi garment, a garment dyed with safflower, gold rings, and reading the Qur'an while bowing.
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رضى الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught his followers to dress modestly and to worship Allah with respect. He prohibited them from wearing a qassi garment, which is a type of clothing made of thick material that is usually dyed with safflower dye. He also forbade them from wearing gold rings as well as reading the Quran while bowing in prayer.
