The Importance of Modesty

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised a person to take their garment upon them and not walk naked.

Narrated Al-Miswar b. Makhramah: I lifted a heavy stone. While I was walking my garment fell down. The Messenger of Allah said to me: Take you garment upon you, and do not walk naked.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأُمَوِيُّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، قَالَ حَمَلْتُ حَجَرًا ثَقِيلاً فَبَيْنَا أَمْشِي فَسَقَطَ عَنِّي ثَوْبِي فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ خُذْ عَلَيْكَ ثَوْبَكَ وَلاَ تَمْشُوا عُرَاةً

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of modesty. It was narrated by Al-Miswar b. Makhramah who was walking with a heavy stone when his garment fell down. At this moment the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him advice to take his garment upon him and not walk naked. This hadith teaches us that we should always be modest in our clothing and behavior as it is an important part of our faith as Muslims. We should also remember that modesty is not only about clothing but also about how we act and speak in public or private settings. We should always strive to be modest in all aspects of our lives so that we can please Allah SWT and gain His blessings in this life and the hereafter.
