The Importance of Reading Allah's Words

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of paying attention to the words of Allah and how they should be read.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet used to read the verse "Is there any that will receive admonition (muddakir)? " that is with doubling of consonant (dal)(d). Abu Dawud said: The word muddakir may be pronounced as mim (m) with a short vowel u. (dal)(d) with a short vowel and kaf (k) with a short vowel i.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ يَقْرَؤُهَا ‏{‏ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ ‏}‏ يَعْنِي مُثَقَّلاً ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ مَضْمُومَةَ الْمِيمِ مَفْتُوحَةَ الدَّالِ مَكْسُورَةَ الْكَافِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of reading and understanding Allah's words. It was narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud that Prophet Muhammad used to read a verse from the Quran with doubling of consonants. Abu Dawud further explained that this word muddakir can be pronounced as mim with a short vowel u, dal with a short vowel and kaf with a short vowel i. This hadith emphasizes on reciting the verses correctly in order to understand their true meanings and gain maximum benefit from them.
