Moving from Abundance to Scarcity

SUMMARY: It is not advisable to move from a place where one has many possessions and people to a place with fewer possessions and people.

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: A man said: Messenger of Allah! we were in an abode in which our numbers and our goods were many and changed to an abode in which our numbers and our goods became few. The Messenger of Allah said: Leave it, for it is reprehensible.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be content with what you have in your life

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik speaks about the importance of contentment in life. The man asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ if it was permissible for him to move from an abode where he had many possessions and people, to an abode with fewer possessions and people. The Prophet ﷺ replied that it was reprehensible, meaning that it is not advisable or recommended. This hadith teaches us that we should be content with what we have, no matter how much or how little it may be. We should strive for more but at the same time be grateful for what we already have in our lives. Contentment brings peace of mind and satisfaction which are essential components of a happy life.
