The Prophet's Favorite Food

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad liked tharid made from bread and Hays the most.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The food the Messenger of Allah liked best was tharid made from bread and tharid made from Hays. Abu Dawud said: It is a weak (tradition).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ السَّمْتِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ أَحَبُّ الطَّعَامِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ الثَّرِيدَ مِنَ الْخُبْزِ وَالثَّرِيدَ مِنَ الْحَيْسِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
According to a hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas, the food that the Messenger of Allah liked best was tharid made from bread and tharid made from Hays. Tharid is a traditional dish in Arab countries which consists of pieces of bread mixed with meat or vegetables in broth. It is usually served with yogurt or sauce on top. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of what we eat and try to make healthy choices when it comes to our diet. We should also strive to follow the example set by Prophet Muhammad in all aspects of our lives including our eating habits.
