Narrated Ibn Abu Mulaika: I wrote a letter to Ibn 'Abbas and he wrote to me that the Prophet had given the verdict that the defendant had to take an oath.

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak truthfully and never lie
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the verdict given by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in which he said that if someone is accused of something and there is no proof or witnesses to back it up then the defendant should take an oath. An oath means to swear on something sacred like God or a holy book and promise to tell the truth. This was done so that justice could be served and people would not falsely accuse each other without any proof. It also teaches us to always speak truthfully and never lie because lying can lead to serious consequences.
