QUICK LESSONS:
Be responsible with your finances; Use your possessions if necessary; Pay back loans in a timely manner; Be generous when possible.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the Prophet's practice of buying foodstuff on credit and mortgaging his armor as collateral. This shows us that even though the Prophet was a leader, he still had to make financial decisions like everyone else. He was not above taking out loans or using his possessions as security for them. It also teaches us that we should be responsible with our finances and not take out more than we can pay back in a timely manner. We should also be willing to use our possessions if necessary in order to secure a loan or other financial transaction.
