The Importance of Modesty in Faith

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of modesty and how it is a part of faith.

Narrated 'Abdullah (bin 'Umar): Once Allah's Messenger passed by an Ansari (man) who was admonishing his brother regarding Haya'. On that Allah's Messenger said, "Leave him as Haya' is a part of faith".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُ أَخَاهُ فِي الْحَيَاءِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ دَعْهُ فَإِنَّ الْحَيَاءَ مِنَ الإِيمَانِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of modesty, or haya', as a part of faith. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Umar, who was one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed by an Ansari man who was admonishing his brother regarding haya'. Upon seeing this, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that he should leave him be as haya' is a part of faith. This shows us that modesty and shyness are important values to uphold in our lives and are essential components for having true faith in Allah SWT. We must remember to always be modest and shy away from doing anything that would bring shame upon ourselves or others around us.
