Prohibited Items in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the use of certain items.

Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas said : We testify that the Messenger of Allah forbade (the use of) gourds, green jars, receptacles smeared with pitch, and hollowed stumps of palm-trees.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَابْنِ، عَبَّاسٍ قَالاَ نَشْهَدُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ وَالنَّقِيرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the things that are prohibited in Islam. According to this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the use of gourds, green jars, receptacles smeared with pitch, and hollowed stumps of palm trees. These items were not allowed to be used by Muslims as they were considered impure or unclean according to Islamic law. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of what we use and make sure it is permissible according to Islamic law. We should also strive to keep our environment clean and free from any impurities or uncleanliness as prescribed by Allah SWT in His holy book, the Quran.
