Making of Wine

SUMMARY: Wine can be made from various ingredients.

Narrated An-Nu'man ibn Bashir: The Prophet said: from grapes wine is made, from dried dates wine is made, from honey wine is made, from wheat wine is made, from barley wine is made.
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ مِنَ الْعِنَبِ خَمْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ التَّمْرِ خَمْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْعَسَلِ خَمْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ الْبُرِّ خَمْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنَ الشَّعِيرِ خَمْرًا

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that wine can be made from various ingredients such as grapes, dried dates, honey and grains like wheat and barley. This hadith is a reminder to us that alcohol is not something to be taken lightly and should not be consumed in excess. We should also remember that it is prohibited in Islam for Muslims to consume alcohol.
