Water Management According to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made a decision regarding the stream al-Mahzur that its water should be held back until it reached the ankles, and then allowed to flow to the lower.

'Amr bin Shu'aib on his father's authority said that his grandfather told that the Messenger of Allah decided regarding the stream al-Mahzur that its water should be held back till it reached the ankles, and that the upper waters should then be allowed to flow to the lower.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَضَى فِي السَّيْلِ الْمَهْزُورِ أَنْ يُمْسَكَ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُرْسِلُ الأَعْلَى عَلَى الأَسْفَلِ

This hadith is about a decision made by Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) regarding water management of a stream called al-Mahzur. He instructed that its water should be held back until it reached the ankles and then allowed to flow down to lower areas. This hadith teaches us about how important it is for us as Muslims to conserve our resources and use them wisely in order for everyone in society can benefit from them equally. It also teaches us about how we should not waste resources or take more than what we need as this will lead to an imbalance in society where some people have access while others do not. We can learn from this hadith that we must always think of others when making decisions so that everyone can benefit from our actions.
