QUICK LESSONS:
Uphold your promises/oaths/agreements even if they are made for something seemingly insignificant

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of upholding one's oath and not breaking it for a small price. It was narrated by Al-Ashath b. Qais who shared some land with a Jew but the Jew denied his right to it. He then took him to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who asked if he had proof of his claim over the land. When he said no, Allah revealed a verse from Surat al-Ma'ida which states that those who barter away Allah's covenant and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. This teaches us that we should always uphold our agreements and promises even if they are made for something seemingly insignificant as this will be rewarded in the Hereafter by Allah SWT. We should also be careful when making an agreement or taking an oath as we must fulfill them once they are made or sworn upon as this is part of being truthful in our dealings with others according to Islamic teachings.
