Fairness and Equity in Distributing Resources

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that it is important to be fair and equitable when distributing gifts or resources.

Narrated Al-Nu'man b. Bashir: That his father had given him a slave. The Messenger of Allah said: What is this slave ? He replied: This is my slave which my father has given me. He asked: Has he given all your brothers the same as he has given you? He replied: #He then said: Return it, then.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for fairness and equity in our dealings with others so everyone can benefit equally from what we have to offer them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of fairness and equity when distributing resources. It was narrated by Al-Nu'man b. Bashir who said that his father gave him a slave as a gift. When the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) heard this he asked if his father had given all of his brothers the same gift as well. When Al-Nu'man replied no, the Prophet instructed him to return it because it was not fair for one brother to receive something that others did not get too. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive for fairness and equity in our dealings with others so everyone can benefit equally from what we have to offer them.
