Sunan Abi Dawud 3474 (Book 24, Hadith 59) #23764
The Unforgivable Sins on the Day of Judgement

SUMMARY: Allah will not address three people on the Day of Judgement who prevent travelers from excess water, swear falsely for goods after afternoon prayer, and take oath of allegiance to a ruler without fulfilling it.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah as saying: There are three people who Allah will not address on the Day of Judgement: a man who prevents traveler from the excess water which he has with him; and a man who swears for the goods (for sale) after the afternoon prayer, that is, (he swears) falsely; and a man who takes the oath of allegiance to a ruler (imam); if he gives him (something), he fulfils (the oath of allegiance) to him, if he does not give him (anything), he does not fulfill it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Share excess resources with those in need; Be honest and truthful when making deals or transactions; Keep promises/fulfill obligations even without reward/returns expected .

EXPLANATIONS:
On the Day of Judgement, Allah will not address three types of people. The first type is someone who prevents travelers from using excess water which they have with them. This means that if someone has more than enough water for their own needs, they should share it with those in need instead of hoarding it all for themselves. The second type is someone who swears falsely when selling goods after afternoon prayer. This means that one should be honest and truthful when making deals or transactions with others and not lie or deceive them in any way. Finally, the third type is someone who takes an oath to a ruler but does not fulfill it if he does not receive anything in return. This teaches us that we should always keep our promises and fulfill our obligations even if we do not receive anything in return as this is what Allah expects from us as believers.
