QUICK LESSONS:
Take good care of your possessions, Be honest in your dealings with others

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the established practice of Muslims when it comes to goods that have been damaged. It states that blight is not effective when less than one-third of goods are damaged, and Yahya said this has been the established practice of Muslims. This means that if a person has purchased something and it gets damaged, they will not be able to claim compensation for it unless more than one-third of the item is destroyed or unusable. This hadith teaches us to be careful with our possessions and take good care of them so we can avoid any losses due to damage or destruction. It also teaches us to be honest in our dealings with others, as we should not try to take advantage by claiming compensation for something which was only slightly damaged or destroyed.
