Sunan Abi Dawud 3405 (Book 23, Hadith 80) #23695
Forbidden Activities Unless Known

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade certain activities unless they are known.

Narrated Jabir b. 'Abd Allah : The Messenger of Allah forbade Muzabanah, Muhaqalah and Thunya except it is known.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ، عُمَرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ السَّيَّارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ وَالْمُحَاقَلَةِ وَعَنِ الثُّنْيَا إِلاَّ أَنْ يُعْلَمَ

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's teachings on certain activities that are forbidden unless they are known. The three activities mentioned in this hadith are Muzabanah, Muhaqalah and Thunya.
