Sunan Abi Dawud 3353 (Book 23, Hadith 28) #23643
Selling Gold with Equal Weight

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised against selling gold with unequal weight.

Narrated Fudalah bin 'Ubaid: We were with the Messenger of Allah at the battle of Khaibar. We were selling to the Jews one Uqiyah of gold for one dinar. The narrators other than Qutaibah said: "for two or three dinars". Then both the versions agreed. The Messenger of Allah said: Do not sell gold except with equal weight.

We should always strive to ensure that we are not taking advantage of others or being taken advantage of ourselves, and this includes making sure that we are giving or receiving an equal amount for what we are trading. This hadith also reminds us to be honest in all our dealings, as honesty is a key part of being a good Muslim.
