Riding for Hajj Instead of Walking

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised a woman to ride a camel for her Hajj instead of walking, as Allah does not need her to walk.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The sister of Uqbah ibn Amir took a vow that she would perform hajj on foot, and she was unable to do so. The Prophet said: Allah is not in need of the walking of your sister. She must ride and offer a sacrificial camel.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive your best to fulfill your promises even if it means offering something else in place or doing something different than what you initially promised .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of fulfilling one's vows and promises. It was narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas that the sister of Uqbah ibn Amir took a vow that she would perform hajj on foot, but she was unable to do so. The Prophet then said that Allah is not in need of the walking of your sister and advised her to ride a camel and offer a sacrificial animal instead. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive our best to fulfill our promises, even if it means offering something else in place or doing something different than what we initially promised. We should also remember that Allah does not need us to do anything; He only wants us to be sincere in our intentions and actions towards Him.
