Sunan Abi Dawud 3249 (Book 22, Hadith 8) #23539
Swearing By Allah Alone

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that one should not swear by their forefathers, but rather they should only swear by Allah or remain silent.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah found 'Umar al-Khattab in a caravan while he was swearing by his father. So he said: Allah forbids you to swear by forefathers. If anyone swears, he must swear by Allah or keep silence.
