EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of prayer and remembrance of those who have passed away, particularly in this case, those who were martyred in battle. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed his respect and love for them by praying over them even after eight years had passed since their death. He did so as if he was bidding farewell to both the living and dead, showing that we should never forget our loved ones even when they are no longer with us physically. We should remember them through prayer and other acts of worship such as charity or reciting Quran on their behalf.
