Sunan Abi Dawud 3174 (Book 21, Hadith 86) #23464
Respect for the Deceased
SUMMARY: The essence of this hadith is that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his companions to show respect and honor to every deceased person, regardless of their religion.
Narrated Jabir: We were with the Prophet when a funeral passed, he stood up for the deceased. When we went to carry it, we found that it was a funeral of a Jew. We, therefore said: Messenger of Allah, this is the funeral of a Jew. He said: Death is fearful event, so when you see a funeral, stand up.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect to the deceased, Stand up for funeral processions
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us an important lesson about showing respect and honor towards those who have passed away. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) demonstrated this by standing up when a funeral procession passed by. When his companions realized it was the funeral of a Jew, they questioned why he showed such reverence. The Prophet explained that death is a fearful event for everyone and thus deserves our respect. The main idea conveyed in this hadith is that we should treat all people with kindness and dignity even after they have died. It doesn`t matter what their religion or background may be; death is something that affects us all equally. By honoring the deceased, we not only show compassion but also recognize the fragility of life itself.
