Shrouding of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was shrouded in three white garments for his burial.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: The Messenger of Allah was shrouded in three garments of white Yemeni stuff, among which was neither a shirt nor a turban.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ، قَالَتْ كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي ثَلاَثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ بِيضٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلاَ عِمَامَةٌ

This hadith is about the shrouding of the Prophet Muhammad upon his death. It is narrated by Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin that he was shrouded in three garments of white Yemeni stuff, among which was neither a shirt nor a turban. This hadith teaches us that it is important to respect and honor those who have passed away by properly burying them with dignity and respect. It also teaches us to be humble and modest even after death as the Prophet did not wear any luxurious clothing or accessories for his burial.
