Sunan Abi Dawud 3129 (Book 21, Hadith 41) #23419
Weeping for the Dead

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) taught that the dead will be punished for the weeping of their family, and no one can bear the burden of another.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah as saying: The dead is punished because of his family's weeping for him. When this was mentioned to 'Aishah, she said: Ibn 'Umar forgot and made a mistake. The Prophet passed by grave and he said: The man in the grave is being punished while his family is weeping for him. She then recited: "No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another". The narrator Abu Mu'awiyyah said: (The Prophet passed) by the grave of a Jew.

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember Allah and ask Him for mercy on those who have passed away . Do good deeds to benefit them in their afterlife . Focus on doing good deeds instead of grieving too much over our loved ones .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that no one can bear the burden of another. It is narrated by Ibn 'Umar, who said that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when someone dies, they are punished due to their family's weeping for them. When this was mentioned to Aisha, she corrected him and recited a verse from Quran which states "No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another". This means that we should not grieve too much over our loved ones who have passed away as it will not help them in any way. Instead, we should focus on doing good deeds in order to benefit them in their afterlife. We should also remember Allah and ask Him for mercy on those who have passed away so they may receive His blessings in their afterlife.
