Patience in the Face of Calamity

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught a woman to have patience and fear Allah in the face of her calamity.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet came upon a woman who was weeping for her child. He said to her: Fear Allah and have patience. She said: What have you to do with my calamity ? She was then told that he was the Prophet . She, therefore, came to him. She did not find doorkeepers at his gate. She said: I did not recognize you, Messenger of Allah. He said: Endurance is shown only at a first blow.

QUICK LESSONS:
Have patience and fear Allah when faced with a calamity

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about having patience and fear Allah when faced with a calamity. It was narrated by Anas ibn Malik, who said that the Prophet (ﷺ) came upon a woman who was weeping for her child. He told her to have patience and fear Allah, but she asked him what his advice had to do with her situation. When she found out he was the Prophet (ﷺ), she came back to him and apologized for not recognizing him earlier. The Prophet then said that endurance is only shown at first blow, meaning that it takes strength to remain patient during difficult times. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to be patient even when faced with difficult situations, as this is an important part of faith in God. We should also remember that God will reward us for our patience if we remain steadfast in our faith despite any hardships or trials we may face.
