QUICK LESSONS:
Make public announcement about finding any lost item; Give away any extra animals you have as charity; Look out for those less fortunate than you; Take responsibility for your belongings so you don't lose them in first place; Be honest in your dealings with others .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Zaid bin Khalid, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ gave advice on how to handle lost items. He said that if a person finds a lost item such as money or jewelry they should make an announcement about it for one year and if someone comes forward with a description of the container and string it was tied with then they should give it back to them. If no one comes forward after one year then they can keep it for themselves. He also said that if someone finds a lost camel then they should leave it alone as it has its own water reservoir and feet so will be able to find food and water itself until its owner finds it. Lastly he said that if someone finds a lost sheep then either the person who found it can keep it or give it away as charity or let the wolf take care of itself. This hadith teaches us about being honest in our dealings with others and taking responsibility for our belongings so we don't lose them in the first place. It also emphasizes looking out for those less fortunate than us by giving away charity when we have something extra like an animal we don't need ourselves.
