EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's instructions to his companion, Mu’adh Ibn Jabal, when he was sent to the people of Yemen. He was instructed by the Prophet to collect a tax called zakat from everyone who had reached puberty. The amount collected was one dinar or its equivalent in a type of garment called mu’afiri which is native to Yemen. This shows that it is important for Muslims to pay their taxes and contribute towards society as part of their religious obligations. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our wealth and use it for good causes such as helping those in need or contributing towards society at large. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and strive for justice when dealing with others, especially those who are less fortunate than us.
