Generosity of the Prophet (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was so humble and generous that he would not consume something if it was given as charity.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Sometimes when I return home and find a date fallen on my bed, I pick it up in order to eat it, but I fear that it might be from a Sadaqa, so I throw it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with your wealth & possessions; Respect those who give in charity; Be humble in all your dealings with others.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Huraira, speaks about the generosity and humility of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It is said that when he returned home, sometimes he found a date fallen on his bed. He would pick it up to eat it but then fear that it might be from a Sadaqa or charity, so he would throw it away. This shows us how generous and humble the Prophet ﷺ was; even though he had very little himself, if something was given to him as charity, out of respect for those who gave in charity, he wouldn't consume it himself. This teaches us to be generous with our wealth and possessions and also to be humble in all our dealings with others.
