Just Collection of Zakat

SUMMARY: The official who collects zakat in a just manner is rewarded as if they fought in Allah's path.

Narrated Rafi' ibn Khadij: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: The official who collects sadaqah (zakat) in a just manner is like him who fights in Allah's path till he returns home.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be fair and honest when dealing with others; strive to do what is right and just; give donations for the benefit of those in need
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of justice and fairness when it comes to collecting zakat, which is a donation made by Muslims for the benefit of those in need. The Prophet Muhammad said that an official who collects zakat in a just manner will be rewarded as if they had fought in Allah's path. This means that their reward will be great, as fighting for Allah is one of the highest forms of worship. It also shows us how important it is to be fair and honest when dealing with others, especially those less fortunate than ourselves. We should always strive to do what is right and just, even when no one else may know or see our actions.
