Sunan Abi Dawud 2881 (Book 18, Hadith 20) #23171
Charity for the Deceased

SUMMARY: Giving charity on behalf of a deceased person is accepted by Allah.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: A woman said: Messenger of Allah, my mother suddenly died; if it had not happened, she would have given sadaqah (charity) and donated (something). Will it suffice if I give sadaqah on her behalf? The Prophet said: Yes, give sadaqah on her behalf.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of giving charity on behalf of a deceased person. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked by a woman if it would suffice to give sadaqah on her mother's behalf and he said yes. This shows that even after death, good deeds can still be done in order to benefit the deceased and bring them closer to Allah. It also teaches us that we should always strive to do good deeds in our lives as they will benefit us even after we have passed away.

Giving charity is an important part of Islam and it is something that all Muslims should strive to do as much as possible. Not only does it help those who are in need but it also brings us closer to Allah and helps us gain His blessings. By giving charity on behalf of someone who has passed away, we are showing our love for them and helping them gain rewards from Allah even after their death.
