Sunan Abi Dawud 2820 (Book 16, Hadith 33) #23110
Eating Meat with Pride and Vainglory is Forbidden

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade eating the meat of animals slaughtered by the bedouins for vainglory and pride.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah forbade to eat (the meat of animals) slaughtered by the bedouins for vainglory and pride. Abu Dawud said: The narrator Ghandar narrated this tradition as a saying of Ibn 'Abbas (and not of the Prophet).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble when consuming food from Allah's creation
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we should not eat meat that has been slaughtered for pride or vainglory. The Prophet Muhammad forbade this act as it goes against Islamic values. Eating meat with pride or vainglory is a sign of arrogance and disrespect towards Allah's creation. We should instead be humble and thankful to Allah for providing us with sustenance. We should also be mindful of how we slaughter animals in accordance to Islamic teachings so that we can benefit from their meat in a respectful manner.
