Sacrificing a Horned Ram

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to sacrifice a specific type of ram for religious purposes.

Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: The Messenger of Allah used to sacrifice a choice, horned ram with black round the eyes, the mouth and the feet.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشٍ أَقْرَنَ فَحِيلٍ يَنْظُرُ فِي سَوَادٍ وَيَأْكُلُ فِي سَوَادٍ وَيَمْشِي فِي سَوَادٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the practice of sacrificing a horned ram with black around its eyes, mouth and feet as part of religious rituals in Islam. The act of sacrificing an animal is seen as an act of devotion to Allah and it also serves to remind us that we should be grateful for what we have been given in life.
