Sunan Abi Dawud 2755 (Book 15, Hadith 279) #23045
Sharing Booty Fairly

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) led a prayer and then took a hair from the camel's side as his share of the booty, but he only took one fifth of it and returned the rest to its owners.

Narrated Amr ibn Abasah: The Messenger of Allah led us in prayer facing a camel which had been taken in booty, and when he had given the salutation, he took a hair from the camel's side and said: I have no right as much as this of your booty, but only to the fifth. and the fifth is returned to you.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be fair when sharing resources/wealth with others; Take only your due share; Strive for justice & fairness in all matters related to money/possessions; Be generous with what you have been given by Allah SWT .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad PBUH shared booty fairly among his companions. After leading them in prayer, he took a hair from the camel's side as his share of the booty, but he only took one fifth of it and returned the rest to its owners. This teaches us that we should always be fair when sharing resources or wealth with others. We should not take more than our due share and must ensure that everyone gets their rightful portion. It also shows us that even though Prophet Muhammad PBUH was entitled to more than one fifth of the booty, he chose to take less out of fairness for all involved.

This hadith also teaches us about being generous with what we have been given by Allah SWT. We should not be greedy or selfish when it comes to sharing our wealth or resources with others; instead we should strive for justice and fairness in all matters related to money or possessions so that everyone can benefit equally from what has been given by Allah SWT.
