Sunan Abi Dawud 2567 (Book 15, Hadith 91) #22858
Respectful Use of Animals

SUMMARY: Do not use animals for purposes other than transportation, and conduct your business on the earth.

Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet as saying "Do not treat the backs of your beasts as pulpits, for Allaah has made them subject to you only to convey you to a town which you cannot reach without difficulty and He has appointed the earth (a floor to work) for you, so conduct your business on it.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about respecting animals and using them only for their intended purpose. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should not treat the backs of our beasts as pulpits, or use them for any other purpose than to transport us to places we cannot reach without difficulty. He also taught us that the earth has been appointed by Allah as a floor to work on, so we should conduct our business on it instead of using animals in ways they were not meant to be used. We can learn from this hadith that it is important to respect all creatures and use them in ways that are beneficial for both humans and animals alike.
