Taking Care of Horses

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised to take care of horses by tying them, rubbing their forelocks and rumps, and putting things on their necks but not bowstrings.

Narrated AbuWahb al-Jushami,: The Messenger of Allah said: Tie the horses, rub down their forelocks and their buttocks (or he said: Their rumps), and put things on their necks, but do not put bowstrings.
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الطَّالْقَانِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُهَاجِرِ، حَدَّثَنِي عَقِيلُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ الْجُشَمِيِّ، - وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ - قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"‏ ارْتَبِطُوا الْخَيْلَ وَامْسَحُوا بِنَوَاصِيهَا وَأَعْجَازِهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ أَوْ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَكْفَالِهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ‏"‏ وَقَلِّدُوهَا وَلاَ تُقَلِّدُوهَا الأَوْتَارَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by AbuWahb al-Jushami states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised to take care of horses. He suggested to tie the horses in order to keep them safe and secure. Additionally, he recommended rubbing down their forelocks and rumps as a way of taking care of them. Furthermore, he suggested putting things on their necks but not bowstrings as it could be dangerous for the horse.
