Striving in the Path of Allah as Tourism

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that the best form of tourism for Muslims is striving in the path of Allah.

Narrated AbuUmamah: A man said: Messenger of Allah, allow tourism for me. The Prophet said: The tourism of my people is striving in the path of Allah, the Exalted.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ التَّنُوخِيُّ أَبُو الْجَمَاهِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلاَءُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ائْذَنْ لِي فِي السِّيَاحَةِ ‏.‏ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ سِيَاحَةَ أُمَّتِي الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى

This hadith teaches us that instead of going on vacation or travelling to different places, a better form of tourism for Muslims is striving in the path of Allah. This means dedicating our time and energy to doing good deeds and helping others, such as volunteering at a local charity or helping out at a soup kitchen. It also means being mindful about our actions and words, so that we can be an example to others and spread goodness wherever we go. By doing this, we are not only pleasing ourselves but also pleasing God by following His teachings.
