The Significance of Jihad After the Conquest of Makkah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) declared that after the conquest of Makkah, there is no more emigration but only Jihad and good intentions.

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Apostle of Allah as saying on the day of the conquest of Makkah: There is no emigration (after the conquest of Makkah), but only Jihad (striving in the path of Allah) and some intention. So when you are summoned to go forth (for Jihad), go forth.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ ‏ "‏ لاَ هِجْرَةَ وَلَكِنْ جِهَادٌ وَنِيَّةٌ وَإِذَا اسْتُنْفِرْتُمْ فَانْفِرُوا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of striving in the path of Allah, or what is known as Jihaad, after the conquest of Makkah. It was reported by Ibn 'Abbas that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said on this day that there is no more emigration or Hijrah but only Jihaad and some intention. This means that Muslims should strive to do good deeds and have good intentions in their actions. The Prophet also said to go forth when summoned for Jihaad which implies a sense of duty towards Allah's cause. This hadith highlights how important it is for Muslims to strive in doing good deeds even after a major victory such as the conquest of Makkah.
