Giving Sadaqah During Ramadan

SUMMARY: A man who had sexual intercourse with his wife during Ramadan came to the Prophet ﷺ for advice. The Prophet ﷺ told him to give sadaqah (alms) and when the man said he had nothing, a man with a donkey loaded with food came forward and the Prophet ﷺ told him to give it as sadaqah.

Narrated 'Aishah, wife of Prophet : A man came to the Prophet during Ramadan in the mosque. He said: Messenger of Allah, I am burnt. The Prophet asked him what happened to him. He said: I had sexual intercourse with my wife. He said: Give sadaqah (alms). He said: I swear by Allah, I possess nothing with me, and I cannot do this. He said: Sit down. He sat down. While he was waiting, a man came forward driving his donkey loaded with food. The Messenger of Allah said: Where is the man who was burnt just now ? Thereupon the man stood up. The Messenger of Allah said: Give it as sadaqah (alms). He asked: Messenger of Allah, to others than us ? By Allah. we are hungry, we have nothing (to eat). He said: Eat it yourselves.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous towards those less fortunate than yourself . Help others whenever possible . Give charity whenever you can .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about giving sadaqah during Ramadan. It tells us that even if we don't have much money or resources available to us, we should still try our best to help others in need. In this particular case, a man who was fasting in Ramadan came to the Prophet ﷺ asking for advice after he committed an act of sin by having sexual intercourse with his wife during fasting hours. The Prophet ﷺ advised him to give sadaqah but since he didn't have anything on him at that time, another person appeared out of nowhere driving his donkey loaded with food and the prophet asked them both to share it as sadaqa. This teaches us that Allah will always provide for those who are sincere in their intentions and willing to help others even if they don't have much themselves. It also shows us how important it is for Muslims not only during Ramadan but throughout the year as well -to be generous towards those less fortunate than ourselves and strive towards helping each other out whenever possible.
